* The celebration of life for Johnny Andrews * What we lost on Sunday, November 28, 2010, was a great musician, man and friend. John G. Andrews, Jr. departed this life Sunday, November 28, 2010, at the Atlantic Care Regional Medical Center, City Campus. John was born in Atlantic City, NJ on February 23, 1934. He was the only child of the late John G. Andrews Sr. and Mary Butts Andrews. John attended Holy Spirit Elementary and Holy Spirit High School as a child and was a parishioner at St. Monica's Church in Atlantic City. John honorably served the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He served three years in the Military abd subsequently attended the Lowell Technical Institute now part of UMass. Here he received his B.S in Textile Engineering. All the while John was nurturing his strong love for music. John became an adjunct professor at Richard Stockton State College. He continued his endeavors with music and hosted the radio program "The Jazz Workshop" which ran on WOND for seventeen years, and WFPG for one year. During the 1970's and 1980's John took a myriad of positions but his most notable was that of job training specialist at the Atlantic Cape May Act(JTPA). Through his years of being in the public eye as a training specialist, he would also be building a strong musical fanbase.
