Obituary of Barbara Kathleen Wicks
Please share a memory of Barbara to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Barbara Kathleen Wicks was born February 26, 1954. Barbara was the eldest daughter of the late George and Eunice Wicks passed away Wednesday, November 10, 2010. Barbara, "Bobbie", grew up in Pleasantville where she attended both public and parochial school. She graduated from Pleasantville High School in 1973. She attended Livingstone College in Salisbury, NC. Her entire work experience was centered around nursing. She truly enjoyed working with the elderly. Her children were her life. She was a dedicated, devoted and hard-working mother who loved her children and grandchildren tremendously. God gave Barbara the gift of laughter. Where many people love to laugh, Barbara lived to laugh. It was her sustaining force. She was a loving, effervescent, and caring person who touched and made better the lives of many. Recently, Barbara re-dedicated her life and received the Lord Jesus Christ as her Savior. Barbara cherished life. She was a tenacious lady who never complained about her illness or life's circumstances. The victorious lady leaves to cherish her memory: a loving fiancé, Hector Ramos, mother, Gertrude Blake; children, Eunice Elizabeth, Troy Anthony and Deveeta Marie Wicks; grandsons, Troy, Jr. and Xavier; brothers, Robert, Vincent and Richard Blake, Tyrone, Andy and Carlton Robinson; sisters, Karen Wicks Gatling (Eley), Vinnie Wicks, Denise Acosta, Sharon, Reba, Gavella, Janice and Gwendelle Blake, Lillian, Linda, Diane and Patricia Robinson; devoted nieces, Marcia and Leatrice Wicks; devoted nephew, Anthony Townsend; a dear and devoted best friend, Connie Moses; and a host of other family and friends.
