Obituary of Marian Lucille Boone
Marian Lucille Boone was born in the Atlantic City Hospital on September 11, 1942, to the late Jesse and Alice Boone. Marian was the youngest of four children and a lifelong resident of Atlantic City's Westside neighborhood and resided on Hummock Avenue her entire life. She was educated in the Atlantic City Public School System and graduated from Atlantic City High School in 1961. In 1968, Marian began her career at the Atlantic City Hospital (now AtlantiCare), where she served as a faithful and dedicated employee in the emergency room as clerk for thirty-nine years, until her retirement in September of 2007. During her tenure at the hospital, she established friendships that laster her a lifetime. For Marian this was not only her place of employment, but more like a home away from home where she was loved by many co-workers whom she considered her extended family. Marian had the gift of seeing beyond a person's skin color and in her eyes people were people. If you were privileged enough to be allowed in her inner circle, there was nothing in the world that she would not do for you. Marian gave unselfishly to her three nieces, and the apple of her eye, her great nephew, Jordan. This generosity extended beyond her family to countless children of friends and neighbors. Marian was an unselfish person who was thankful for all that she had. She also loved cats, a legacy that was passed down from her father, Jesse and extended to her beloved sister, Shirley, all three of her nieces and now her great nephew. Upon her retirement, Marian enjoyed watching her daily "Judge" shows, Nancy Grace and Down Home with the Neeley's on Food TV, and if you called her during the time of any of these shows were airing, you would probably not reach her or wished you hadn't. Though Marian did not attend church regularly, she had a sure foundation and an unshakeable faith that her God would supply all her needs and was thank for all her many blessings. She would tell you in a heartbeat that "God has been good to me!" She was prepared in her spirit to take her eternal rest. Marian's survivors include her faithful feline companion, "Handsome"; nieces, Monique M. Green of Pleasantville, Marlita R. Chambers-Waters of Egg Harbor Township, Michele D. Chambers of Williamstown, and Cheryl Boone of North Carolina; great nephew, Jordan F. Waters of Egg Harbor Township; cousin, John Thompson of Pleasantville; and her friend of over fifty years, Dorothy "Dot" Gross of Atlantic City. Preceding her into eternal rest are parents, Alice and Jesse Boone; brothers, James "Jack" Boone and Clarence "Duke" Boone; and sister, Shirley B. Chambers, whom she affectionately referred to as "Snookie". Additionally, Marian leaves many faithful friends and extended family members; Ernest and Faye Ward, Carol Gordan, Tamala, Bernadette and John Mooney, Lil, and Mary Anne, just to name a few. She loved you deeply. Marian Lucille Boone will be missed by those whom she loved, and there will never be anyone else quite like her.
