Obituary of Viona Marie Foreman

Viona Marie Foreman, 98 of Atlantic City was born June 5, 1912, in Newark, MD. She died at home August 11, 2010. She was an Atlantic City resident for more than 75 years. Mrs. Foreman was educated in the Worchester County, MD school system. Viona Marie was a graduate of and teacher at Apex School of Beauty Culture under the tutelage of Madame Sarah Spencer Washington. She was a member of Saint James African Methodist Episcopal Church for more than 75 years, where she was a member of the Senior Choir, Tyree-Delaney Missionary Society, and the Fuel and Flower Clubs. Viona Marie was also a member of the Northside Business and Professional Women's organization and the Order of Eastern Star. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends; traveling, wearing beautiful hats and always had a song to sing. Viona Marie is predeceased by: her loving husband, John Welsey Foreman; daughter, Isabella Sarah Thompson; step-son, Robert Wesley Foreman, and brother, Rev. Atwood J. Foreman. She leaves to cherish her memory: daughters, JoAnna Emma LaSane(Karlos), Marihalia Jane Brandon (B.T.); grandson, Karlos R. LaSane, II; grand-daughter, Maria B. Watkins (John), great-grandchildren, Karlos R. LaSane, III (Rhonda), Brandon T. Watkins, John Holland Watkins, Jr., JoyMaria Omega Watkins; great-great-granddaughter, Rebecca RochelleMarie LaSane; stepdaughter, Albertha Quarteman and family of Daytona, FL; cousins, Chester Purnell of Laurinburg, NC, Carolyn Bailey of Vineland, NJ, Joan Mitchell of Plymouth Meeting, PA and Gloria Nhambiu of Philadelphia, PA; caregivers, Theresa Walker and Irene Parker; and a host of other relatives, church family and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to the St. James A.M.E. Church Scholarship Committee or Tyree-Delaney Missionary Society.
