Obituary of Rodney Melrose Stowe Sr.
Please share a memory of Rodney to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Rodney Melrose Stowe, Sr. was born on January 31, 1956, to Cleopatra Dancy Anderson and Melrose Bradshaw Allen Von Straussidy Stowe, Jr. Rodney departed this earthly life on March 14, 2023. Rodney was born and raised in Atlantic City, New Jersey where he attended Atlantic City public schools. He graduated from Atlantic City High School with the class of 1974. After graduating high school, he joined the United States Army where he served for three years as a military police officer in Fort Benjamin Harrison, Indiana. He was honorably discharged in 1977.
Once back home, Rodney wore many hats. He was a disc jockey known as "Mr. Mellow," for more than ten years in Indiana, Maryland, and New Jersey. He worked at Kentucky Fried Chicken where he met his soulmate, Beverly. He then moved on to New Jersey Transit where he served as a bus driver for twenty-five years until he retired in 2012. Over the years he enjoyed fishing, traveling, and spending time with family and friends. Rodney and Beverly were known to host annual Thanksgiving dinners, Father's Day cookouts, and card games.
Rodney leaves to cherish his beautiful memories: his wife of 34 years, Beverly D. Stowe; his children (of which he would always say, "They're all mine, even when they aren't.") Garnell Hands (Saedah), Yvonne Stowe-Dorrin (Mike), Requan Stowe, Cheyenne Muhammad (Ghazi), Greg Bryant, Samantha Cruz-Hill, Norman Ennals (Olivia), Eddie Faison, Lynndora Faison; 27 grandchildren; and a host of great-grandchildren; his sister, Donna Stowe-Robinson (John); two brothers, Micheal Dancy and Isaiah Anderson; his stepmother, Carol A. Stowe; many nieces, nephews, and extended family as well as his New Jersey Transit family.
Funeral services will be 1PM, Saturday, March 25, 2023, All Wars Memorial Building, 1510 Adriatic Avenue, Atlantic City, where friends may call from 11AM.
