Obituary of Herman Lee Baskerville

Herman Lee Baskerville, 79, of Pleasantville, New Jersey entered eternal rest on February 18, 2023. He was born April 30, 1943, in Baskerville, Virginia to the late Deacon James L. Baskerville and Deaconess Daisy Irene Baskerville. Herman developed his Christian faith at an early age and was baptized at Union Hill R. Z. U. A. Church in Baskerville, Virginia. Herman attended and graduated from West End High School in Clarksville, Virginia. He served in the military and, at one point in his military career, served in the Vietnam War. Herman's life also included working on tobacco farms in Mecklenburg County and Charlotte County in the state of Virginia. He later moved to Atlantic City, New Jersey, the home of his grandmother and other relatives. He worked for the City of Atlantic City as a mechanic, and later retired, from his job with the city. He also loved repairing automobiles, including his beloved truck. In addition to his mother and father, Herman was also predeceased by his caring and loving wife, Mary Baskerville. Herman leaves to cherish his memories his sisters: Reverend Eva B. Hurt (Reverend Reginald) of Snellville, Georgia; Catherine B. Monroe (Edward) of Charlottesville, Virginia; and, Sylvia Baskerville of Blackstone, Virginia. He also leaves to cherish his memories a friend who was there to help him, Ms. Robin Hawkins, several nephews and nieces, cousins, and other relatives. Herman will be missed, and celebrated for his upbeat spirit, throughout life's adversities. Funeral services will be 11AM, Saturday, February 25, 2023, Greenidge Funeral Home, 301 Absecon Boulevard, Atlantic City, New Jersey, where friends may call from 10AM. Interment to follow in the Atlantic County Veterans Cemetery, Estell Manor, New Jersey. The funeral services will be live-streamed and availalbe for later viewing on YouTube.
