Sylvia Iola Harmon (nee' Ford) was born to Clarice and George Ford in Atlantic City, New Jersey on September 14, 1930. She attended New Jersey Avenue School and graduated from Atlantic City High School in 1948. Sylvia obtained her license in cosmetology and worked as beautician at Walker's Beauty Salon on Arctic Avenue in Atlantic City. She met and married her beloved husband, Raymond Riley Harmon in 1957, and from that union eight children were produced. Sylvia also enjoyed working at the Summer Love Vacation Bible School at Saint Augustine's Episcopal Church. As a lifetime member of Saint Augustine's, Sylvia was a member of Saint Martha's Guild, the Senior Choir, and a former president of Episcopal Christian Women. As an active member of her community, she was also a member of 101 Women Plus. Her charity was extensive – she would give a donation to all who asked. She was a devoted Eagles fan. She has a passion for the playing the organ and piano. In her free time, she enjoyed completing mega puzzles with her husband, Raymond.
