Obituary of Toi Bonita Smith

Toi Bonita Dawson-Smith, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, was born March 25, 1962, to the late Reverend Charles & Mildred Dawson in Brooklyn, New York. She passed away at her home on December 14, 2022. As a child, Bonita grew up in Brooklyn and The Bronx, New York, with her parents and loving siblings Reggie and Renee. She led an active life in her church and community alongside her family, accepting Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age. In the early 1970's Bonita and her family relocated to the McKee City section of Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey, to be close to her paternal grandparents Henry and Beatrice Dawson. She later moved with her family to South Egg Harbor, New Jersey in 1977. There Bonita attended and graduated from Absegami High School in Mays Landing. Bonita enjoyed working in the Customer Service Industry for many years in New Jersey and Tennessee. Bonita was predeceased by her parents, grandparents, and siblings. She is survived by: her conservator and niece, LaToiya Dawson-O'Brien (Steve) of Katy, Texas; loving niece, Toi Dawson, of Camden, New Jersey; loving nephews, Reginald Dawson (Ericka), of Jonesboro, Georgia, Michael Dawson, of Mays Landing, New Jersey, Ronnie Dawson, of Lindenwold, New Jersey, and Carlton Bright, of Chamesburg, Pennsylvania; stepmother, Ruby Dawson, of Brooklyn, New York; and a host of great nephews, nieces, cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends. Memorial funeral services will be 11AM, Saturday, January 14, 2023, Greenidge Funeral Home, 301 Absecon Boulevard, Atlantic City, New Jersey, where friends may call from 10:30AM. Entombment to follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Washington Avenue., Pleasantville, New Jersey.
