Obituary of Mary Lou Verderosa

Please share a memory of Mary to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Mary Lou Verderosa, 81, of Ventnor City, New Jersey passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, December 2, 2022, with her family at her side. She was born to Pauline and Mervin Umberger in Mount Holly, New Jersey on October 11, 1941, and raised in Moorestown, New Jersey. In 1960, she attended Glassboro State College where she met the love of her life, John Verderosa. They were married for 61 years and blessed with five children. For more than fifty years Mary had worked in the family amusement businesses on the Seaside Heights Boardwalk. She managed a variety of shops including a pizzeria and a Christmas store. She was known to many young people as "Mother Mary" for her concern for their well-being. She enjoyed traveling and had a love for animals. Everyone who knew her knew that her family was her pride and joy. She was a very supportive mother and could be seen at hundreds of her children's school and sporting activities over the years. She would relish the times they were all together. Her love and support will be deeply missed. Mary is survived by: her husband, John and their five children; John, and his wife, Marie, James, and his wife, Miyoung, Patrick, Joseph, and his wife, Gina, Candace, and her husband, Edwin Roworth; two brothers, Lt. Col. John Umberger, and his wife, Lynda of Ocala, Florida and Christian Umberger of Reno, Nevada. She is also survived by: nine grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews. Join us for a Celebration of Mary's life 11AM, Saturday, February 18, 2023, at the Presbyterian Church of Toms River, 1070 Hooper Avenue, Toms River, New Jersey.
