Obituary of Robert Francis Goldsboro
Dr. Robert Francis Goldsboro was born on April 27, 1927, in Bridgeton, New Jersey. He was the tenth child born to the Minnie (nee' Maddox) and Albert Goldsboro.
Robert attended the Bridgeton Public School System and graduated from Bridgeton High School in 1945. Robert attended Tuskegee University's School of Veterinary Medicine. After graduating Tuskegee University in 1951, he served in the United States Air Force (USAF) Veterinary Corps as a veterinary officer where he obtained the rank of First Lieutenant during the Korean War. Upon being honorably discharged from the Air Force, he went on to obtain his master's degree of Public Health (MPH) from Columbia University's School of Public Health in 1954, (now named the Mailman School of Public Health).
Dr. Goldsboro was appointed Public Health Veterinarian for the New Jersey State Department of Health. Dr. Goldsboro was a licensed veterinarian in New Jersey and Virginia. He also practiced as a small animal clinician in Virginia.
After a remarkable career of 30 years of service, Dr. Goldsboro retired from his position as the State of New Jersey's Coordinator of Veterinary Public Health. For 28 years of his professional career Robert was also active in the United States Air Force Reserves. He retired from the Reserves with the rank of Lt. Colonel.
Dr. Goldsboro always stood up for what he believed. He aligned himself with associations that did the same. He was a Golden member with the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity. For more than sixty years he was a member of the historic Alpha Masonic Lodge #116. Dr. Goldsboro was honored by the NAACP's Morris County Branch during its 85th Anniversary Gala on October 28, 2016, in Randolph, New Jersey as a Community Service Award recipient. He was also presented with the New Jersey NAACP's 2016 Soldier of Valor Award during this gala.
He is predeceased by: his parents, Minnie and Albert Goldsboro; wife, Mary A. Lattimore Goldsboro; six brothers, Sylvester, George, Jerome Sr., Stanley Sr., Sidney and James Goldsboro; three sisters, Gladys Day, Gertrude Johnston and Lilly Gray.
Dr. Goldsboro leaves to cherish his memory: his son, Mark Goldsboro; daughter Lisa Goldsboro Tate; two grandsons, Omar Blue and Aaron Davis Jr.; two granddaughters, Tiffany Tate-Getter (Darnell) and Tara Tate; a great-granddaughter, Zyiiah Jones; three great-grandsons, Cameron, Caleb and Cassidy Getter; nephews, Robert Gray, Herman Goldsboro, Jerome Goldsboro, Jr., Shaheed El-Amin and Stanley Goldsboro, Jr.; nieces, Deborah Thompson, Patricia Gould, Sanaa Abdul-Quaadir Bradley, Edith Pierce, Gloria Martin, Gladys Goldsboro and Angeline Pierce; other family members and friends.
Funeral services to celebrate Robert's life will be Noon, Saturday, September 24, 2022, Trinity AME Church, 1107 Bridgeton-Millville Pike, Bridgeton, New Jersey, where friends may view from 9:30AM to 11AM. Fraternal rights will begin at 11AM. Services may also be viewed via livestream at https://youtu.be/3DL03x4fTWI. Interment to follow at Gouldtown Memorial Park, Gouldtown, New Jersey.
