Belinda Elizabeth Dorsay, affectionately known as Princess, the daughter of Eva Bivens and Lawrence Miles Sr., was born April 22, 1951, in Marion, Maryland and she enjoyed most of her childhood on the Eastern Shores of Maryland. When she arrived in New Jersey as a seventh grader, she attended the Atlantic City School District. Her stepfather, Marshall Bailey was instrumental in her growth and development as she ascended the academic ladder which intimidated, Andre, aka 'Herb' Dorsay when they were in Junior High School; and when she got to High School, Belinda was involved in the Arista, which is a national premier organization established to recognize outstanding high school students and a member of the Honor Society. So, even though 'Herb' was attracted to Belinda, he considered her to be uppity which temporarily halted his romantic pursuits. Belinda married Stewart Reed and from their union two sons were born: Gwyne Richard and Taka Mfalme Reed. She attended Atlantic Cape Community College where she earned an Associate Degree before transferring to Stockton University where she studied Psychology and African History. She graduated with her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology with Honors on May 20, 1977. Belinda was employed by various employers such as Summer Youth Employment in Atlantic County. She was later employed by Computer Science Corporation (CSC). Belinda worked for over 30 years and met people w would later become longtime friends. She retired in 2010 While in college, Andre "Herb" found courage to make his move. He asked Belinda for her hand in marriage; they were married December 25, 1984. The family drove across the country in their converted van, and they traveled the world - cruising to Alaska, Hawaii and Panama. Belinda loved stand-up comedy, all forms of news, attending BBQs, Rita's water ice, gardening and sitting on her porch watching the sun rise and set but most importantly she had an insatiable thirst for knowledge. She was a firecracker and a fighter who survived breast cancer. Belinda is survived by: her loving husband, Andre "Herb" Dorsay; two sons, Gwyne Richard and Taka Mfalme Reed; three delightful grandchildren: Taka Lamar Tillman, Chalia Nachele Corbett, and Imani Nia Reed; adoring great-grandson, Khalil Corbett; father, Lawrence Miles, Sr.; Aunt Edna; Siblings, Lawrence Miles, Jr., Angel Campbell and Trina Munford; Special Friends, Pre Deceased Doris Hawkins, Lynn & Ramius McPhatter, Merolyn Kelly, Suncereah & James McKinney, Fu Guan &Yuanwei Guan, Lillie Nuer, Phyllis & Pat Deblois, Kathey Pearson, Stephanie Roberts, Hazel Levy, Leigh Ann & Kenny Matheson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other family and friends.
