Obituary of Ralph Willingham Harris

Please share a memory of Ralph to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our patriarch, Ralph W. Harris, Jr. Ralph went to be with the lord on May 1, 2022. Ralph fought cancer for the last 6 months and was determined to beat it until his last days. Throughout his battle, he remained confident, and upbeat and always made sure family and friends knew how much he loved them. He was raised by his great uncle/aunt George and Adelaide Harris. He grew up in Edenton, NC, and had very interesting stories about his youth. Ralph enlisted in the US Navy and after serving was honorably discharged. After getting out of the Navy, Ralph relocated to Atlantic City, NJ to find work and spent over 20 years working for Shop Rite in Absecon, NJ. Ralph had a number of hobbies his favorites were: listening to and recording music, building and painting diecast models, and being an avid sports fan. He was a die-hard Boston Celtics and Cleveland Browns fan and according to him, Bill Russell and Jim Brown are the GOATs. Ralph was predeceased by: his beloved wife, Marian Harris; parents, Ralph Willingham and Lillian Harris Willingham; and brother George Harris. He leaves to cherish his beloved life and the precious memories that will sustain them: his sister Hazel Alexander; Children, Kevin Harris, Fina Foreman, William Luton, Ronald Lewis, Ralph Royster, Cheryl Royster, Wendy Brown (Newton), Rhonda Lewis, and Warren McCullough; Special Daughter, Johnice Hood; Nieces, Lillian Drew, Gloria Carter and Marlene Burnett; Nephew, E. Lamont Alexander; Great Nieces Erika, Jessica and Latasha; Great Nephews Patrick, Brandon, and Miles; along with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, cousins and a few special friends. A visitation will be from 11AM to 12Noon, Thursday, May 26, 2022 at Greenidge Funeral Homes, Inc., 301 Absecon Boulevard, Atlantic City, New Jersey 08401. Arrangements are entrusted to Greenidge Funeral Homes, Inc., Atlantic City, New Jersey, where condolences maybe left at www.greenidgefuneralhomes.com
