Obituary of Marion Celeste Allen
Marion C. Allen, 90, of Brigantine, New Jersey, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving children. She was born in Atlantic City, New Jersey to Eleanor Frances (Clarke) and Albert Douglas Slade.
Marion attended the Atlantic City Public Schools. She worked for Caesars Casino, Atlantic City, in housekeeping for thirty years before retiring. After retiring from Caesars, Marion worked for the Foster Grandparent Program for the Pleasantville Public School System. She was a member of the Faith Baptist Church in Pleasantville, New Jersey. Marion was a warrior and breast cancer survivor.
She was preceded in death by: her husband, Walter E. Allen; daughters, Patricia Jones, Carolyn Martin and Lavonne Burr; son, Edwin Jones.
Marion leaves to cherish her memories: her sisters, Sallie Brathwaite (Osea) and Burley James; children, Pamela Silver (Theodore), Laverne Jones, Penny Massiah, Irving Jones, Kim Allen, Eugenia Sanders (David), Desiree' Allen and Iris Allen; special sons-in-law, Charles Lemons and David Burr. and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
Marion enjoyed being a grandmother, foster grandparent, listening to music, and dancing. She also loved crocheting, playing cards, Bingo, and Pokeno. Her favorite sports were football and boxing. She liked watching the Price is Right and soap operas, as well as going to the casinos. There was never a time that you would find her without her mango Rita's Water Ice or Wawa mango smoothie. There was never a shortage of love and caring for her sister, Sallie.
Funeral services to Celebrate her life will be 11AM Saturday, April 30, 2022, at Faith Baptist Church, 829 Tilton Road, Pleasantville, New Jersey, where friends may view from 9:30AM to 11AM. Interment to follow in Egg Harbor City Cemetery, Egg Harbor City, New Jersey.
