Obituary of William Franklin Brundage

William Franklin "Bill" Brundage, Jr., 87, of Atlantic City, New Jersey went home to be with the Lord after a short illness on April 12, 2022. He was born October 14, 1934, in Camden, New Jersey to Freida (nee' Kelly) and William Brundage. Bill graduated from Glassboro High School, then served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He worked in the construction industry before becoming a medical assistant at Ancora Psychiatric Hospital, where he served as president of the American Federation of State, County & Municipal Employees Union. He was also a member of the Coalition of Black Trade Unionists. Bill loved the Lord and was a faithful member of St. James AME Church, Atlantic City, New Jersey. Bill loved hunting, pier and deep-sea fishing; especially with his son, Detective Kevin Brundage, Sr. and his best friend Levine Dickerson. One of his favorite places to relax and go fishing was in Fortescue, New Jersey. He also loved to cook and was well known for his barbecue ribs. He loved to tell stories and jokes, like "Don't touch that grille!". He will be missed. Bill is survived by: his beloved wife, Marion (nee Cason); daughters, Karen F. Brundage-Johnson (Ben) of Egg Harbor Township, NJ, Kim Hicks-Wilkins of Millville, NJ, Donna Hicks of Las Vegas, NV, Staci Hicks of Randallstown, MD., Terri Hicks-Barker (Thomas) of Carrollton, GA., Kelli Hicks-Ringold of Austell, GA, Tamara Plato-Harrington of Franklinville, NJ; sons, Kevin Bland of Lindenwold, NJ, Michael Hicks of Chaing Mai, Thailand, and Gregory Plato of Hammonton, VA; niece, Robin Brundage; 24 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; special cousins, Mona Franklin and Patricia Patterson and a host of cousins, family and friends. Bill was preceded in death by: his brother, Robert Brundage and his son, Detective Kevin A. Brundage, Sr. Funeral services will be Noon, Saturday, April 23, 2002, Saint James AME Church, 101 North New York Avenue, Atlantic City, New Jersey, where friends may call from 11AM. Interment with military honors to follow in Atlantic City Cemetery, Pleasantville, New Jersey. Masks are required to attend the service.
