Obituary of William James
William James was born to Joseph and Barbara Jean James in Chicago, Illinois, on December 9, 1965. He was the fourth of five children born to Joseph and Barbara Jean James. The family later relocated to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Willie was educated in the Philadelphia Public School System. Willie later relocated and settled in Atlantic City, New Jersey, with his mother whom he adored. He attended the Atlantic City Public Schools and graduated from the Atlantic City High School. He studied culinary arts at Cumberland County Community College.
Willie was blessed with three beautiful daughters, whom he loved with all his heart; Tashawna D., Shani A. and Ebony M. James. He became employed by Mount Royal Motel (Eastern Pines) and was promoted to Food Service Director, where he met his lifetime partner, Carla D. Burette. He later worked as a Food and Beverage Manager for Bally's Casino Hotel in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
Willie read the Bible from beginning to end. He loved to Cook. He would cook for any and every occasion. No matter the event, he would make more than enough food. He enjoyed sports and always went for the winning team, but he loved his Philly teams. To know Willie was to love him.
Willie knew that he was a rapper and during any hosted events, you could hear him in the background performing. He took pleasure in watching karate flicks and spooky movies. He stayed on top of current events via CNN and other news broadcasts.
Willie was preceded in death by: his daughter, Tashawna D. James; parents, Joseph and Barbara Jean James.
Willie leaves to cherish his fond memories: his devoted lifetime partner, Carla Burette; two daughters, Shani and Ebony James; step-son, Timothy A. burette; brother, Joseph Burton; three sisters, Barbera Nelson (Bryant), Diana James, JoAnna Nelson (Rodman); grandchildren, Kingston, KhyOn and Heaven'Ly; step-grandchildren, TJ, Simeon and Marlee; special friends, Kevin, Ken Ken and the Fifth and Wharton Street Boys; favorite cousin, Bum Bum; step-brother, Thomas Snowden, Jr.; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
Funeral services to Celebrate his life will be 11AM Wednesday, March 16, 2022, at Greenidge Funeral Homes, 301 Absecon Boulevard, Atlantic City, New Jersey, where friends may view from 10AM to 11AM.
