Obituary of Darlene Melva Pettus
Darlene Melva Pettus, 68 of Atlantic City, New Jersey, passed away on Tuesday, January 25, 2022, at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center Mainland Campus.
Darlene was born May 24, 1953, in Atlantic City, New Jersey to Dorothy Elizabeth (Bailey) and Earl J. Laws. She attended the Atlantic City Public schools and graduted from Atlantic City High School with the Class of 1970. Darlene later earned her bachelor's degree from Rutger's University.
Darlene worked as a police officer for the Atlantic City Police Department for many years. She eventually became a detective. After she left the police department she worked a few years as a crossing guard for the City of Atlantic City. She also held various positions in the casinos.
She was preceded in death by: her parents, Dorothy and Earl Laws.
Darlene leaves to cherish her fond memories: her only son, Ronald Laws; husband, Gary Pettus; sisters, Andrea Travis and Janette Bundy; brothers, Cleo Williams and Butch Bundy; grandchildren, Quanette Monique Little, Chakhara Hicks, Joseph Mace, Ramajah McWhite and Ronald Laws, Jr.; cousin/sister, Donna Brown; and a host of other family members and friends.
Funeral services to celebrate her life will be 11AM, Monday, February 14, 2022, at Greenidge Funeral Homes, 301 Absecon Boulevard, Atlantic City, New Jersey, where friends may view from 10AM to 11AM. Interment to follow at Lincoln Memorial Park, Mays Landing, New Jersey.
