Obituary of Patricia Ann Jones
Patricia "Pat" West-Jones was born on December 5th, 1954 in Atlantic City, New Jersey. She was born to the late Eugenia Nelson, nee West, from McKeesport, Pennsylvania and Julio Martinez-West from Cristobal, Panama. She was the second youngest of four children, and a portion of their youth was spent growing up in Queens, New York. She attended Holy Spirit Grammar and Holy Spirit High School graduating in 1973. Pat was wise and insightful beyond her years she was full to the brim with passion, faith, knowledge, and a wealth of love for her friends and family up to her final days on this Earth. Pat worked for the Board of Elections for many years before working for the Pleasantville Board of Education until her retirement in 2012.
If there was anything Pat enjoyed doing more than anything, it was relaxing at the beach with her girls. There was hardly a summer day where you wouldn't find her comfortably lounging on the sandy shores of the beach uptown – "The Ink Well". Pat absolutely loved to soak up those toasty sun rays, the brisk earthen aroma and sweet sensations of the soothing saltwater breeze.
If she wasn't at the beach, then you would most definitely have no trouble finding Pat surrounded by loving friends and family at evening social gatherings. On holidays, birthdays, or special events, you could count on seeing her there, flashing that cheerful million-dollar smile and that infectious laugh of hers as she greeted you. She often danced the night away to her favorite Gospel, R&B, and Soul tunes. There would be zero doubt that you'd see her dressed flawlessly for all occasions. After all, Pat was as fashionably stunning as she was vivacious!
A woman of proud faith and unwavering conviction, Pat was never shy about her relationship with God. She regularly attended church services at Mount Zion Baptist Church in Pleasantville, New Jersey until her health declined. Pat spoke fondly of her faith, and you could guarantee that she'd enlighten you with her Biblical knowledge. Pat was also a gifted wordsmith. Using the penname Poetess Patricia West- Jones, she communicated powerful and eloquent messages of perseverance, strength, happiness, and moving forward with the wind at her back. Her life from beginning to end was all about her journey to peace, which she wrote about in her book she published titled "I Journey to Peace". On October 9th, 2021, Pat found her peace when she returned home to be with the Lord and enjoy eternal bliss in paradise.
Pat leaves behind an undeniable legacy that will be honored and carried on by her family.
