Obituary of Alvin Wayne Whitaker
Alvin Wayne Whitaker, 66, of Atlantic City New Jersey, was born in Rocky Mountain, North Carolina. He was best known as "Al" or "Big Al". After graduating from high school, Al entered the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War and proudly served his country until his Honorable Discharge from the Corps. Big Al found that he had a passion for cooking. So he pursued a career as a professional chef. He was a chef at Stockton State College for nearly ten years. During his time at Stockton it seemed as though everyday was "Bring Your Children to Work Day" – He took great pride in bringing his children to his working kitchen to show them how he "Really got down" in the kitchen. Alvin lives on through his children: Ebony Nicole Peters, Alvin Wayne Whitaker, Jr., La'Shelle Yvonne Whitaker and Kyra Ford. His legacy continues on with his grandchildren, Alvin Wayne Whitaker, III, Galani Whitaker, Armani Quicne, Amari Whitaker and Annaisa Whitaker. He also leaves to cherish his memories: his mother, Ruthie Bell Whitaker; sisters, Yvone Whitaker, Gladys Williams and Angela Whitaker; brother, Ernest Whitaker; niece, Ashley Whitaker; great niece, A'lyea Lawrence; great nephew, Lawrence; a geninue and true best friend, Edwin Williams; the wonderful mother to his children, Deanna Peters. Alvin will live forever through all of his family. The family is grateful to be honored with such a hero. Al was a great man who instilled many lessons and blessing within all of us.
