Obituary of Lillian Moore

Lillian Moore (89) of Atlantic City, New Jersey by way of Dewitt, VA gained her wings on August 30, 2021, surrounded by her two most prized possessions. She was born July 27, 1932, in Dinwiddie County, VA to the late George W. Wyatt and Louise Westbrook-Wyatt. She received her education from the Dinwiddie County school system. At an early age, Lillian was baptized and became a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Dewitt, VA. Her faith and walk with the Lord would go on to pour into every and anyone who crossed her path thereafter. Lillian found love and married Robert A. Moore, whom she affectionately called “Doll”, on July 1, 1956. Their union would last 56 years until Robert’s passing in 2012.

Like most southerners, Robert and Lillian moved north to New Jersey during the late 1950s. Shortly after moving north, they began raising their bonus daughter Cynthia Wyatt. Lillian worked as a housekeeper until she became employed as a Presser with a local dry cleaner. She later worked at Resorts Casino until retirement in 1994.

Lillian joined Union Baptist Temple in Atlantic City, NJ soon after arriving to the area. Here, she would continue to spread the love of God through her service as President of the Golden Links and member of the Senior Ministry. A lover of music, she loved singing on the choir. Her favorite song to lead solo was, “This is my story”. In 1991, Lillian took on her favorite and most known role, “Nana”. Her granddaughter Lauren, whom she affectionately called “Punkin’”, was the apple of her eye. Lillian never missed a recital, competition, or special moment. The two were inseparable. She especially loved their dinner and nail dates.

She loved to stay in contact with family and friends. You could be sure to expect a call first thing in the morning and then again late at night. One thing about Lillian, she could dance and dance well. If there was music playing, she was dancing! Presentation was everything and Lillian was always dressed to the nine.

Selfless. A giver by nature. Lillian would give you the clothes off her back. She was known for her generous, supportive, and meek spirit. Although sweet and passive, her strength was unmatched. Her voice was firm. When she spoke, you listened. And if you messed with her, she was quick to tell you where you could go. Lillian was a true Matriarch and a blessing to her entire family.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter Cynthia Wyatt and beloved granddaughter Lauren A. Wyatt of Atlantic City, NJ; sisters, Geneva Stewart of Plainfield, NJ, Floris Lipperman (Michael) of Greensboro, NC, and Bertha Frazier of Newark, NJ; brothers, Joseph “Mike” Wyatt and Leon “Booney” Wyatt of Dewitt, VA, and Thomas Wyatt of Plainfield, NJ; sisters-in-law, Ora Wyatt, Phyliss Wyatt, and Laverne Wyatt; beloved best friends, Dora Amado (and family) and Louise Bennett; goddaughter, Kiemon Henry and family; and a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and bonus grandchildren.

A visitation will be 6PM-8PM, Friday, September 3, 2021, Greenidge Funeral Homes, Inc., 301 Absecon Boulevard, Atlantic City, NJ. Funeral services will be 11AM, Saturday, September 4, 2021, Union Baptist Temple; where friends may call from 10AM. Interment to follow in Laurel Memorial Park, Egg Harbor Township, NJ.
