Obituary of Annie Belle Davis

Annie Bell Hardy Davis of Atlantic City, New Jersey, and formerly of Kinston, North Carolina, was born August 6, 1927, to Purdie (Kornegay) and John Hardy. She passed away suddenly on Wednesday, August 18, 2021, at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center City Campus. Annie attended the local schools in Kinston and was a 1947 graduate of Adkin High School. She furthered her education and attended Shaw University in Raleigh, North Carolina. Annie worked for Atlantic City Medical Center as a supervisor in admissions for a number of years before retiring in 1987. She was preceded in death by: her parents, John and Purdy Hardy; brothers, John D. and Dempsey Hardy. Annie leaves a legacy of love and memories to be cherished by: her daughter, Oveta Thompson of Atlantic City, New Jersey; grandsons, David Thompson of Atlantic City, New Jersey, Jahmal Thompson of Raleigh, North Carolina, and Wazen Cowan of Texas; great granddaughter, Jayla Thompson of Garner, North Carolina; sister, Bertha Johnson of Kinston, North Carolina; sisters in-law, Mildred Hardy of Elon, North Carolina and Ester Stewart of Scotch Plain, New Jersey; nieces, Laverne Moore of Scotch Plain, New Jersey, Dr. Nakia Hardy of Durham, North Carolina, Lauren Jones, Kelly Jones and Tia Rogers all of Carteret, New Jersey; nephews, Andre Moore of Georgia, Aaron Moore of Oregon and Clarence Leander Jones IV of San Francisco, California; cousins, Joyce and Wilbert Johnson of Kinston, North Carolina, Georgette Curry of Clayton, North Carolina; friends, Marie Rose, Sherrie Elder and Tammy Broady; close friends, Kimberly Davis and Candice Moore; and a host of other family members and friends.
