Mary Louise Nichols (nee' Graves), age 98, of Atlantic City, New Jersey departed this life to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 28, 2021, while at home surrounded by her family. Mary Louise Graves was born December 11, 1922 in Prince George County, Virginia to Lula and Clarence Graves.
She moved to Atlantic City in her youth and made it her home. She was employed at Spencer Gifts from 1958 until her retirement in 1987. She retired as Supervisor of the Color Coding Department.
Ms. Nichols is predeceased by: James Nichols; her parents, Lula and Clarence Graves; sisters, Lilie Mae Graves, Corrine Graves and Hortense Worthy; daughter, Stella Hatch; and granddaughter, Karen Trower.
Mary leaves to cherish her memories: two daughters, Marie D. Bateman and Florence Hyman; six grandchildren, Gina Burton, Barry Bateman, Michael Donaldson, Rosaland Sanders, Davida Fisher, and Tracey Triniwell; eight great-grandchildren; four great great-grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends.
After retiring, Mary was ever more devoted to her family. She was looking forward to celebrating all holidays, birthdays and special events with her family. She enjoyed fixing everyone their own special favorites dish. She made sure her family knew to treat everyone with respect so that they too would be treated with respect. But she also wanted to make sure that they knew how to have a good time. Her famous quote was "No fools, no fun." Mary was a religious woman who believed in God. She always reminded everyone, God her Lord and Savior takes care of all of our needs and God is always in charge.
