Obituary of Verneice Sally Williams

Verneice Sally Williams 87, of Atlantic City, New Jersey, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 20, 2021, at Chippenham Hospital in Richmond, Virginia. "Sis" as she was affectionately known was born August 22, 1933, in Atlantic City, New Jersey, and was the eldest of four children born to Christina (Overby) and Leonidas David Clark, Sr. Verneice was educated in Atlantic City Public Schools and graduated from Atlantic City High School in 1952. She attended Atlantic Cape Community College. She worked as an Institutional Attendant at Ancora Hospital in Hammonton, New Jersey, for 6 years and as a Nurse's Aide at Atlantic City Hospital for 5 years. She also worked for the Unemployment Office in Atlantic City and NAFEC in Pomona, New Jersey. Verneice retired from the United States Postal Service after 23 years of service. After retiring Verneice moved to Petersburg, Virginia for 10 years. Verneice met the love her life Myles Wendell Williams and they married in 1960. Together, she and Myles enjoyed: fishing, traveling, sports and spending time with their children and family. Her dream was to travel internationally. Verneice fulfilled her dream by traveling with family and friends to: England, Spain, France, Italy, Malta, Aruba, Mexico, other Caribbean Islands and Hawaii. Verneice was a member of Jethro Memorial Presbyterian Church in Atlantic City, New Jersey. She was well known for baking homemade pound cakes that she proudly shared with her loved ones. Sis had many gifts and talents. She enjoyed painting, sewing, making jewelry and crafts. Most recently she will be remembered for all the facial masks she made and donated to family and others during the pandemic. She was preceded in death by: her parents, Christina and Leonidas Clark, Sr.; brother, Leonidas Clark, Jr. and sister, Maryam Muniyr. Sis leaves to cherish her fond memories: her loving children, Kelly Johnson, Rosalind Hughes, Stanley Williams and Vincent Williams (Kay); brother, Larry Clark; sisters in-law, Ruth Brown and Tina Stors; brother in-law, James Williams; daughter in-law, Betty-Jane Williams; God daughter, Laurie Bundick; eight grandchildren; seven great grandchildren and a host of nieces; nephews; other family members and friends.
