Obituary of Milton Phillip Hill, Sr.
Milton P. Hill, Sr., affectionately known as "MP", passed away January 26, 2021. MP lived a rich and rewarding life that was filled with love and adventure.
MP took great pride in his service with the Navy aboard the USS Barry (Destroyer) Groton, Ct. MP served in Vietnam, being injured in 1965 and shot in 1966. He received numerous honors including a Purple Heart, the Good Conduct Award, a National Defense Service Medal, an Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, a Vietnam Service Medal, a Vietnam Campaign Medal, and a Navy Unit Commendation.
MP was a graduate of Atlantic City High School Class of 1964 and Atlantic Community College in 1975. He worked for New Jersey Bell as a lineman, retired from the Atlantic City Police Department in 1994, and lovingly spent 20 years as a safety officer with the Atlantic City Board of Education retiring in 2014. MP was an avid fisherman. He was a member of Ventnor Fishing Pier Association and Hiram Abiff Lodge #16 in Pleasantville, NJ.
MP is predeceased by his parents, Dorothy and Ralph Hill; brothers, Ralph, Jr., Darrow, and Lloyd Kenneth; sisters, Dionne and CaroleAnne. MP is survived by his sons, Milton P. (Phil) Hill, Jr. (Carrina) and Michael J. Wiggins, his daughter, Amy Wiggins Brown, caring ex-wife, Linda Hill & his loving Connecticut family; loving cousin, Kim Wallace; special friend, Trish Mooney; thirteen grandchildren, Ajahnah, Bilal, Shakirah, Darrian, Taijonah, Aliya, Michael, Noriah, Makiyah, Samiya, Khaleo, Xavier, Milani; longtime friends, Benn Polk and John Sparkman; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a memorial service will be held at a later date.
