Jill Collette

Obituary of Jill Putman Collette

Jill P. Collette was born August 23, 1954, in Atlantic city to John and Ruby Putman. She attended Pleasantville public schools and graduated with the class of 1973. After high school Jill attend Glassboro College (Rowan University), where she earned a degree in education. Jill went on to teach in the school system 38 years. She taught at Massachusetts Ave, New Jersey Ave, and finally Pennsylvania Ave school. She loved her students and always remembered them years after they exited her classroom. Even after retiring, in 2017 she continued to volunteer within the Atlantic City School District.

In 1982, she became endeared to Walter and Henrietta Collette and was soon blessed with two daughters, Tamarraw and Shantell. You never saw her without her girls, unless she was working. She always gave them all the love she had to give and always had a vacation or trip planned for her girls. In 2005 and 2015 she became a grandmother of two very beloved grandchildren, Kai'Ree Parker and Kamryn Collette-Crenshaw. Just like she did with her daughters, she took Kai'Ree everywhere, exposed him to the world outside of Atlantic City. She was looking forward to also showing Kamryn to all the wonders the world had to offer. She was in the process of planning a trip to Disneyland, for her little princess, at her untimely passing. Kai'Ree was half of her heart in human form and Kamryn was the other half.

Jill was a member of The Second Baptist Church and was in the process of joining the Trustee Board. She loved her church family and enjoyed coming to church on Sunday Morning. She made sure she was able to get to church, no matter what.

Jill was loved by everyone she met. You could always catch her doing her favorite things, walking, talking, or shopping for her grandchildren. She always greeted everyone with a warm smile and a kiss on the cheek, with her red lipstick. Jill never spoke a bad word to anyone and tried to help whomever she could, however she could. She loved her city, her former students, and her family.

Jill is predeceased by: her mother, Ruby and father, John Putman and her in laws, Walter and Henrietta Collette. She leaves to mourn: two daughters, Tamarraw of Galloway, NJ and Shantell of Tampa, FL; two grandchildren, Kai'Ree and Kamryn; sister-in-law, D'Lynn of Williamstown, NJ; and a host of loved ones, friends and former students.
