Obituary of Ruth Ellen Waller

Ruth Ellen Waller peacefully departed this life to walk with the angels on May 21st, 2020. Ruth was born in Atlantic City, New Jersey to Ellen and Matthew Austin. She was raised and spent her life in Atlantic City. Ruth attended the Atlantic City public schools at an early age. She later transferred to the Bordentown Schools where she matriculated and graduated High School. Ruth entered into the Mercy Douglas Hospital School of Nursing located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where she successfully earned her Bachelor of Science degree and was proud to receive her Registered Nursing status. Ruth later went on to work at the then named Atlantic City Hospital specializing in the maternity ward where she was able to deliver her first grandchild (Nakia) and assist in bringing many other children into the world. One of Ruth's fondest memories was being one of the first Registered Nurses to open N.A.R.C.O, under the executive director John Brooks who is the name sake of the current John Brook Recovery Center. Ruth would smile and say "I Remember #1" with love and a smile. Ruth was predeceased by: her husband, Jimmy Waller, Sr. She leaves behind to cherish for memories: her children, who she referred to as her best friends, Lynette Gabriel (William), Claudia Waller, Jimmy Waller Jr. and Tracy Williams. Ruth's grandchildren brought her so much joy. Nakia Abdullah (Ahmid), Barry Waller, Amber Outterbridge (Stando), Brittney and Brien Harrell, and Julian Waller. We must mention the real joy of her twilight years, her great-grandchildren. Courtney, Khalid, Mikayla, Lauren, Olivia, Gabriel, Laquey, Ta'Sherra, Ajah and Jalana. Ruth was also blessed with two great-great-grandchildren, Jayceon and Bryce. She would always say "her boys" with a smile. Ruth's extended children were, Latoya Waller and Elliott Thomas (Deana), and their families. Sisters and Brothers in-law, nieces, nephews and many friends. Ruth's loving and sweet quiet strength will be sorely missed. The family would like to express the gratitude of the nurses and aides of the Garden Floor at Meadowview Nursing Home, with a special thanks to Ms. Berthal. Thank you for caring so dearly. The Family
