Obituary of Elizabeth Ramsey Clark

Elizabeth Ramsey Clark made her Heavenly transition on Wednesday, April 15, 2020. She was born April 21, 1954 in Ocean Springs, Mississippi to Theodore Ramsey, Sr., and Katie Lee Johnson Ramsey who both preceded her in death. She was affectionately called, "Pumpkin" or "Liz", by her closest family and friends. Elizabeth was educated in the Ocean Springs School District before moving to Orlando, Florida where she graduated from Jones High School. After graduating from high school, she relocated to Trenton, New Jersey where she attended classes at Mercer Community College. During this time she met and married Deacon Larry Clark and from this union she gave birth to her daughter, Monique L. Clark. She loved home décor, fashion and a nice pair of heels. She loved soul food and most of all she enjoyed a nice bowl of black eyed peas and rice. She liked to sing and sew and she was a country girl at heart being born and raised in Mississippi. Elizabeth was a faithful member of the New Hope Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend John Howard, Sr. for many years. She was a member of the Adult Choir where she led her favorite song, "Said I Wasn't Gonna Tell Nobody." She also served in the Women's Ministry as well as other auxiliaries while she was a member. She also sang soprano with the New John Howard's Gospel Caravans for many years. In her most recent years, she attended the Mount Zion Baptist of Pleasantville where the pastor is Willie D. Francois, III. Elizabeth was employed by the State of New Jersey's Division of Gaming Enforcement for more than 30 years as a Head Clerk. As a loyal and diligent employee, she received recognition from the Office of the Attorney General and from the Director of Gaming Enforcement, David Rebuck. Additionally, she was recognized for outstanding service to the Equal Employment Opportunity Committee and the Affirmative Action Advisory Committee. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by: her brother, Theodore Ramsey, Jr., her sisters, Mary Francis Ramsey-Wright and Mary Ann Highsmith. She leaves to cherish her memory: her daughter, Monique L. Clark; her sister, Lillie Ramsey Avent; a bonus daughter, Joy Clark-Townsel (Chester); her nieces, Lawonza Ramsey Wharton (Edward) and Tracy L. Wright; her nephews, William Thomas, Jr., David A. Thomas (Gerel), Daniel L. Ramsey (Michele); Derrick Highsmith and Brian Highsmith (Margaret); long-time special friend, Stacy Gallagher; other special friends, Mary Alford, Cheryl Hebron, Mary Graham and Tamesha Graham; and a host of great nieces and nephews, other family members, co-workers and friends.
