Obituary of Eva Josephine Buster

Eva Josephine Buster departed this life on the morning of Friday, April 10, 2020, in the Atlanticare Regional Medical Center in Atlantic City, New Jersey. She was 84 years of age. Eva Josephine Buster, aka "EJ", was born December 23, 1935, Halifax County, Virginia to the late John and Fannie Hicks Buster. Eva received her early education in the Halifax County School System. She accepted Christ at an early age. She was baptized and joined Piney Grove Baptist Church. After graduation from Mary M. Bethune High School, she attended Morgan State College in Baltimore, Maryland. At Morgan she majored in English and minored in Mathematics. Eva moved to Atlantic City, New Jersey in 1955, where she first was employed at the Mayflower Hotel. After the Mayflower closed, she continued her craft at Bally's Casino on the weekends. She also worked at Lennox China for more than 35 years until her retirement. Eva was a faithful member of Second Baptist Church where she attended every Sunday. There she participated with missionary work and many other voluntary tasks. Eva also fellowshipped at the New Shiloh Baptist Church. Her favorite saying was "Is a Bluebird Blue?" Her favorite songs were: "I Want to Be at the Meeting" and "Standing on the Promises." Eva enjoyed traveling, doing crossword puzzles, reading shopping and spending time with her family who she adored. Eva was an avid sports fan. She really enjoyed watching the players in their uniforms. But do not get it twisted, she knew what was going on. In addition to her parents, Eva is predeceased by: her son, David R. Ferguson; two brothers, John M. and Albert H. Buster; and two sisters, Fannie R. Webb and Kate R. Buster. She leaves to cherish precious memories and love: three sisters, Marion L. Dixon of Mays Landing, New Jersey, Shirley L. Buster of Pleasantville, New Jersey and Gloria D. Buster of Atlantic City, New Jersey; four brothers, Cain "CD" Buster and his wife, Melba of Hopewell, Virginia, Wilbert Buster and his wife, Tammy of South Boston, Virginia, Gilbert Buster and his wife, Karin of Germany, and Jesse Buster of Scottsburg, Virginia; daughter-in-law, Ritha Ferguson; granddaughters, Eva Ferguson and Gabrielle Ferguson; one great-grandson, Kaleb Davis-Ferguson; aunt, Mattie Drewery; a host of special nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives; god-children, Sidney Dabney and Teneka Gaskins. Funeral services were private in Atlantic City, NJ and Scottsburg, VA due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Miss Buster was laid to rest in the Piney Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Scottsburg, VA.
