Obituary of Roslyn Jarrette Jefferson

Roslyn Jarrette Jefferson, 79, of Galloway Township, New Jersey, passed away on Saturday, December 21, 2019, surrounded by her family. She was born to Elizabeth Cotellia (Bazemore) and Charles Owen Bond, Sr., in Brooklyn, New York, on August 8, 1940. Roslyn mostly grew up in Brooklyn, New York, but maintained strong roots to the rest of her extended family in Windsor, North Carolina. She went to high school in Ashville, North Carolina, and later returned to live in New York. Most of her working career, she worked at Meadowlands Racing and Entertainment. She also ran her own laundromat for several years, worked in a credit union, and obtained her real estate license in New Jersey. She loved to play scrabble, do crossword and jigsaw puzzles. She was a woman of many talents, and enjoyed sewing, crocheting and macramé. She also enjoyed gardening and baking a variety of desserts for her family and friends. She never used recipes for her cakes, relying on memory to make the best cakes you've ever tried. Roslyn loved to travel and would often be on a road trip to visit family members all up and down the eastern coast. Family reunions were her favorite, she would plan to attend as many reunions as she could manage. She was predeceased by: her loving husband of almost 40 years, Rayford Jefferson; parents, Elizabeth and Charles Bond, Sr.; daughters, Cecile Jefferson and Kim Marie Wright; and brother, Charles Bond, Jr. Roslyn leaves many to cherish her fond memories: including her sons, Michael (Virginia) and Robert Richardson; daughter, Leyte Jefferson (Jack); sister, Elena Knowles (Reynold); six grandchildren, Jovan Desrosier, Khalil Wright, Malachai Kerns, Christopher, Tyler and Prince Elijah Richardson; as well as a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, in-laws, and many other family members and friends. The family is especially thankful to our cousin, Aaron Speller who was instrumental in providing much care for her in her final years. Graveside services will be 11 AM Thursday, January 2, 2020, at Brigadier William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery, 350 Province Line Road, Wrightstown, New Jersey. Memorial services in her honor will be held 11AM on January 11, 2020, at Greenidge Funeral Homes, 301 Absecon Boulevard, Atlantic City, New Jersey, where friends and family may call from 10:30 am.
