Obituary of Jacqueline Inez Scarbrough
Jackie Inez Scarbrough was born November 12, 1924, in Atlantic City, NJ to Inez (Stimpson) and Thomas Scarbrough. She peacefully went home to be with the Lord on November 15 2019.
Jackie grew up in Philadelphia, PA, where she attended the Philadelphia School System.
In her early years, Jackie studied and worked as an insurance secretary and later worked for the Philadelphia Post Office as a postal clerk. She later relocated to Atlantic City and was employed by the Atlantic City Post Office. After many years of service, she retired from the Post Office.
Jackie was affectionately known as; Mom Jackie, Grand mom, GG, and Ms. Jackie. Her favorite hobbies were needle pointing, crocheting and photography, which she shared with everyone. Jackie was a tea drinker and had tea partners that she enjoyed sharing her different types of tea. She also took pictures of every place, person and thing. Jackie traveled from the east coast to the west coast by train, stopping and meeting different people on the way.
Jackie attend New Shiloh Baptist church most Sunday's. She lived a short distant away and would walk to church most of the time. She said it was part of her weekly exercise walk. She enjoyed hearing Bishop Washington preach.
Jackie is predeceased by her: parents, Inez Stimpson Scarrbrough and Thomas Scarbrough; son, David Scarbrough; brothers, Bruce Scarbrough and Thomas Scarbrough.
Jackie leaves to cherish her memory: granddaughter, Magdalena Scarbrough; great-grandson, Jaedin Scarbrough Manning; daughter-in-law, Learh Scarbrough; nephews, Bruce Scarbrough (Connie) of Philadelphia PA. and Curtis Scarbrough of Florida; special family friend, Lydia Ramos (William) of Pleasantville, NJ; family friend, Wesley Hawkins, Jr. of Atlantic City, NJ; honorary grand-daughter, Tracy Dewitt of Atlantic City, NJ and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends
Memorial services will be 11AM, Friday, November 22, 2019, Shiloh Baptist Church, 701 Atlantic Avenue, Atlantic City, NJ, where friends may call from 10AM. Interment to follow in Atlantic City Cemetery, Pleasantville.
