Obituary of Irene Louise Hill
Irene Louise Hill passed away on May 17, 2019, at the Cooper University Medical Center in Camden, New Jersey. She was born September 15, 1923, in Atlantic City, New Jersey to Barbara (nee Tisdale) and Clifton Wesley Thomas. Irene was also raised and educated in Atlantic City. She attended the local public schools and graduated from Atlantic City Vocational School where she learned to become a seamstress.
Irene worked as a seamstress in Atlantic City at Kravitz and Pettit Factories.
She loved to dance and party. She especially loved “The Electric Slide”. She also enjoyed watching movies and attending her grandchildren’s parties.
She was a dedicated member of Atlantic City’s Saint Monica’s Roman Catholic Church.
Irene married Wayne G. Hill. From their union there were two children, Donzella Hill and Wayne Hill. She is survived by: daughter, Donzella “Donnie” Hill; sister, Betty Currie (Rudolph); ten grandchildren; thirty-one great-grandchildren; nine great great-grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hill is predeceased by: her husband, Wayne; sisters, Doris Parker and Barbara Brown; sons, Ronald Thomas and Wayne “Wakil” Gordan Hill.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30AM, Friday, May 24, 2019, at Our Lady Star of the Sea Roman Catholic Church, 2651 Atlantic Avenue, Atlantic City, NJ, where friends may call from 8:45AM. Interment to follow in Seaside Cemetery, Upper Township, New Jersey.
