Obituary of Gregory Pierce
Gregory Pierce, 53 of Mays Landing, passed away on April 11, 2019, at home with his wife by his side. He was born May 26, 1965 in Camden, New Jersey to Marilyn Jean (Smith) and James Melvin Pierce.
Gregory grew up in Gloucester City and Maple Shade, New Jersey. He moved to Florida where he stayed with his children for many years. In his late 20's, Greg moved back to New Jersey, where he was reunited with a family friend, Denise. They spent many years together in Ventnor enjoying the beach. He liked the water anyway he could get it, whether it would be swimming, laying and playing in the sand with his grandchildren, water-sports, or fishing with his brothers and sisters. He loved the ocean.
In 2005, the couple received two blessings: They purchased a new home and Greg was given an amazing gift; a new liver. This was such a happy time.
Greg was a hard worker. For many years, he was employed as a carpenter and established painter. He took pride in the care of his pets, a beautiful koi fish and dog Shilo.
Greg was a kind soul, always willing to lend a hand, even to a stranger. He was also a big jokester; he could make you laugh for hours.
In 2017, everything changed when Greg was diagnosed with cancer. He received treatment and was in the clear, but due to complications, Greg was unable to speak. His wife acted as his voice and full time caregiver.
Greg is predeceased by: parents, Marilyn Jean Smith and James Melvin Pierce; brother, Joseph Pierce (Bobby Lynn); sister, Emily Barth (Ken) and son, Nicolas Benedetto.
Gregory is survived by: his wife, Denise Ann Farina Pierce; children, Gregory Pierce, Jr, and Heather Lynn Pierce; step-children, Theresa Farina (Dave) and Thomas Farina (Stephanie); sisters, Evelyn Garth and Marie Ennis (Sonny); brothers, James Pierce (Dianna) and Edward Pierce (Doris); in-laws, Joe Ennis, Ella Rusk, Albert Ennis (Marie), James Johnson (Katie), Helene Murphy (Mike), Linda Sciullo (Mike), Donna Micchelli (Joe) and John Segars (Kathy); grandchildren, Austin, Teea, David, Mari, Danessa, Tyler, Lil Greg, Bella, Cameron, William, Jersey, and Corbin (Brianna); one great-grandchild, Gatsby and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Gregory Pierce was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, and friend.
