Obituary of Anthony Lewis Watson

Anthony Lewis Watson "Tony" was born July 23, 1956, to the late James L. and Ramona (Warefield) Watson in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

Early Wednesday morning on March 27, 2019, Tony transitioned from this earthly life at the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center in Galloway, New Jersey to his Heavely home.

Anthony was educated in the Atlantic City School system. Tony and his brothers, Garey and Kenny all played basketball, baseball and competed in track meets. They were honored with medals, ribbons, certificates, and trophies for their athletic achievements; also they maintained good academic grades during those years. Tony attended Atlantic City High School, but left school to join the United States Army before graduation. While in the military, he received his GED.

During some of his military tour of duty, Tony was stationed at Fort Leonard Wood in Missouri and Fort Knox in Kentucky. After his honorable discharge. From 1979, Tony was employed by Atlantic County Department of Family and Community Development in Atlantic City as a mail carrier. In 2004, Tony received his employment and service. He received gifts and well wishes , and a letter from County Executive, Dennis Levinson, all congratulating him on his service anniversary. Tony suffered with medical challenges for several years, and due to these health issues, he retired.

Tony is predeceased by: parents; brothers, Charles "Jimmy" Warefield , Garey and Kenneth Watson of Atlantic City.

He leaves to cherish his memory: two sons, Anthony Taylor of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Horece McZeke, Jr.( Ruqayyah) of Atlantic City, New Jersey; one brother, Marcus Elliott (Sudi) of Miami, Florida; three sisters, Theresa Fawehinmi (Victor) of Xenia, Ohio, Robin Williams of Atlantic City, New Jersey and Vera James of Pleasantville, New Jersey; nine grandchildren, Lorenzo, Quamir, Anthony, Jr., Horece, II, Maurice, Miesha, Ka'La, Jiavonni, and Saniyah; five great-grandchildren, Kemaj, Zmir, Jarred, Horece, III, and Zsz'Mori; his furry companion, "Puggie"; and a host of family and friends.

Funeral services will be 10:30AM, Monday, April 15, 2019, Greenidge Funeral Homes, Inc., 301 Absecon Boulevard, Atlantic City, NJ, where friends may call from 9AM. Interment will be in Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery, Wrightstown, NJ.
