Obituary of Donald Edward Sanderlin
Donald Edward Sanderlin was born on October 21, 1951, in Windsor, North Carolina to Philmore and Rosa Mae Sanderlin. He was raised and educated in Bertie County, North Carolina. In his early years, Donald moved to Atlantic City, New Jersey where he later met and married Lillian Green Sanderlin. "Dook" as he was affectionately known, worked at the Atlantic City Medical Center and Harrah's Casino and Resort for many years until his health diminished.
Donald had a love for cooking which he took pride in doing for his family. He also loved to garden and could be seen in the community on many occasions planting flowers and providing neighborhood cleanup. Dook was extremely witty and would have his family members and friends delighting in his humor.
Donald is preceded in death by: his wife, Lillian Green Sanderlin; and parents, Philmore and Rosa Mae Sanderlin.
Donald leaves to cherish his memories: sons, Cornell Davis (Jamie) and Jamal Davis (Twana); step-son, James Green, Jr.; step-daughter, Tina Terrell; grandchildren, Khalid, Kadinah, Cornyshia, Amir, Jamaal, Zion, Journey, Cornell Jr., Jayden, Coby and Conyay; brothers, Horace (Leisa) of Riverdale, Georgia, Dale (Sandra) of Williamstown, New Jersey, and Dana (Betty) of Windsor, North Carolina; sisters, Joyce of Williamstown, New Jersey, Lillie of Windsor, North Carolina, and Mary (John) of Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey; sister-in-law, Brenda Sanderlin of Pleasantville, New Jersey; aunts, Meta Thomas of Norfolk, Virginia and Ada Williams of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; uncle, David Sanderlin of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; support givers, Nickcole Green and Horace Mason; special friend, Floretta Davis; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A visitation will be Tuesday, February 19, 2019, from 5PM to 8PM, at Greenidge Funeral Homes, Inc., 301 Absecon Boulevard, Atlantic City, New Jersey. Funeral Services will be in Windsor, North Carolina.
