Obituary of Gloria Ola Morton
Gloria Ola (NEE Miller) Morton, peacefully departed this life on Sunday, January 27, 2019, at the AtlantiCare Hospital in Atlantic City. She was eighty three years old.
Gloria was the daughter of the late George and Naomi Harris Miller. She was born in Atlantic City New Jersey on March 12, 1935. Gloria accepted Jesus Christ and was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church.
Gloria attended the Atlantic City Public School system. Our mother, worked various jobs before becoming a stay at home mom to raise her several children. When the children matured, she went back into the workforce securing a job with Resorts Hotel and Casino. After thirty years of honorable service she retired. She enjoyed playing the slot machines at Caesars Casino, where she was rated as a Diamond and shared the benefits with her children. Gloria, amongst other senior members in the community, contributed to the success in the lives of her extended family and friends in the neighborhood.
Gloria is predeceased by: her husband, Raymond Morton, Sr.; son, John Roy Morton; brothers, George Miller, Harvey Miller, William Miller, Julius Norman Miller, Sr.; sisters, Elaine Green, Loretta Farmer, Muriel Barker, Roslyn Farmer.
She leaves to cherish her memory, sons, Richard Martin II (wife Johana), Raymond Morton Jr. (wife Joyce), Vincent Morton (wife Denise), Reginald Morton (wife Angela), daughters, Rochelle Morton, Joyce M. Preston (husband David), stepdaughter, Joyce AnnMarie Morton of Baltimore, Maryland; twelve grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; sisters in-law, Willa Morton of Arlington, Virginia, Ruth Morton of Oxford, North Carolina; and a host of other family and friends.
Funeral services will be 11AM, Friday, February 1, 2019, New Hope Baptist Church, 704 Lexington Avenue, Atlantic City, where friends may call from 9AM. Interment to follow in Atlantic City Cemetery, Pleasantville.
