Obituary of Lorraine Gassaway
Mrs. Lorraine Alma "Toni" Gassaway, 85, peacefully passed away Wednesday, November 7, 2018, at home with her immediate family by her side.
Lorraine or "Toni" as she was affectionately known was born in Atlantic City, NJ on October 1, 1933. She attended school in New York graduating from high school and later attended college. Lorraine returned to Atlantic City to be with her grandmother, Viola Walker.
Toni worked as a dancer at the well known "Club Harlem." Later continuing her education. She became an internationally certified advanced alcohol and drug counselor, earning her CAADC. During her twenty-five years of service retiring in 2016 from Cumberland County, NJ.
Lorraine was a vibrant, beautiful, woman inside and out, generously sharing what she had with family and friends alike. She was a faithful member of the Trinity Episcopal Church of Vineland for many years.
Lorraine was preceded in death by: grandmother, Viola Walker; husbands, Boynton Harris, Sr. and Dwight Gassaway, and daughter, Marla Ali-Mcants.
Lorraine is survived by: mother, Winifred Bray-Anderson, son, Boynton Jon Harris, Jr.; daughter-in-law, Sandra; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins all of whom will cherish her memory fondly.
Memorial services will be 11AM, Saturday, November 24, 2018, All Wars Memorial Building, 1510 Adriatic Avenue, Atlantic City, NJ, where friends may call from 10:30AM.
