Obituary of Mary Virginia Joyner
Mary Virginia (Winstead) Joyner was born March 28, 1925, to Goldie (Winborn) and James Winstead in Newport News, Virginia. She crossed over peacefully on Monday, November 5, 2018, at Royal Suites Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Galloway, surrounded by family.
Mary was raised and spent her entire life in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Mary worked as a dietary assistant for the Children's Seashore House in Atlantic City, and was a faithful member of Union Baptist Temple in Atlantic City. Some of her favorite past times included eating candy and watching television. She enjoyed watching game shows such as "Let's Make A Deal" and "The Price Is Right", which were two of her favorites. When it came to candy, nothing was like her plain old M&M's. Mary enjoyed peace and quiet. She also enjoyed spending time with her family and going to church until her health prevented her from going.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Goldie and James Winstead; children, Brenda, Willie and Michael Joyner; siblings, Herbert, Reginald and James Winstead.
Mary leaves to cherish her memories: her loving daughter, Barbara Grandy; grandchildren, Troy Gandy, Roselyn Davis, Scott Grandy, Colleen Murdock, Niki Joyner and Shaw Shanks; eight great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Words cannot express our love for Mary, she will be missed and, in our hearts, forever.
Funeral services will be 11AM Friday, November 9, 2018, at Union Baptist Temple, Pennsylvania and Drexel Avenues, Atlantic City, where friends may call after 10AM.
