Obituary of Edna Rosebure
Born to Ida and Major Lightfoot in Big Island, Virginia near Lynchburg, Virginia.
She was the youngest of seven children who were the late Lloyd Lightfoot, Roy Lightfoot, James Edward Lightfoot, Marion Lightfoot Patterson, Evelyn Lightfoot Gregory and Hortense Lightfoot.
Edna graduated from high school and moved to Harlem in New York City. After a year she moved to Newark, New Jersey to work for AT&T Western Electric as a Communication Technician in Kearny, New Jersey.
Edna married Willie Mitchell and had a daughter Valerie Elaine Mitchell. After the death of Willie Mitchell in 1963 she later married the late Willie Rosebure.
Edna was a member of New Hope Baptist Church and Hopewell Baptist Church in Newark. After serving 30 years as a phone technician at AT&T Western Union she retired in 1983.
She moved to Atlantic City, New Jersey where she attended Second Baptist Church and became president of the Willing Workers and Nurses Unit.
She enjoyed serving on the church choir, church first aid team and was a life member of Telecommunications Pioneers of America.
Edna Winfred Lightfoot Rosebure leaves behind her daughter, Valerie Mitchell-Stevens; son-in-law, Conrad Stevens; grandsons, Jamine and Calvin Stevens. She is also survived by her great-grandson, Jamine Cullen Stevens, greatgranddaughter, Emprez-Issis Stevens and great-grandson, Josiah Stevens. She will be missed by loving nephews, nieces.
