Obituary of Garland Degraffenriedt
Garland "Pete" DeGraffenriedt, 83, was born on Friday, March 8, 1935, to Pearl and Wilbert DeGraffenriedt in Siler City, North Carolina. Garland departed this life peacefully on Wednesday, April 11, 2018.
Garland attended the Siler City public school system. After working numerous jobs, Garland moved to Atlantic City, NJ, with the love of his life of 50 years, the late Ethel Langford-Degraffenriedt. "Pete", as he was affecionately called, worked for Local 415 Construction Company for more than 20 years before retiring. Pete dedicated his life to helping others without hesitation. Pete's love for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren was unconditional.
"Pete" enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, playing "spades", and family cookouts. Pete loved to listen to his "Oldies, but goodies" music. To know Pete was to truly love him. Pete made changes in finding the truth in God's Word, the Bible. The Kingdom was his hope where he gained a personal relationship with Jehovah.
Garland "Pete" is predeceased by: his loving parents, Pearl and Wilbert DeGraffenriedt; one daughter, Greta Gray; one sister, Anna-Jean; three brothers, twins Dwayne and Wayne, Harold DeGraffenriedt.
Leaving to cherish his fond memories: his loving and devoted children, three daughters, Keisha (Franklen) Burnside, Yvonne (Sidney) Ragland, both of Mays Landing, and Kemon Powell, of Atlantic City; one son, Clayton (Shena) Wiley, of Mays Landing, NJ; 17 beautiful grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; along with a host of loving nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Memorial services will be Noon, Saturday, April 21, 2018, Greenidge Funeral Homes, Inc., 301 Absecon Boulevard, Atlantic City, NJ, where friends may call from 11:30AM.
