Obituary of Verna Bailey
Verna Anita Bailey, 60, was born June 5, 1957, to Dolores (nee' Eberhart) and Alonzo Bailey. She went home to be with the Lord February 6, 2018.
She attended Atlantic City Public Schools, Holy Spirit High School, and graduated from Widener University with a degree in Spanish.
Verna was a lifelong member of the Union Baptist Temple where she sang with the Mass Choir and the Voices of Hope under the direction of her brother, Minister Michael A. Bailey.
Verna was employed as an administrative assistant in the Atlantic City Public Schools for more than 25 years. She worked at Atlantic City High School for many years often becoming a confidant, or a listening ear to a generation of students.
Verna was most proud of her daughter, Viana, who she loved dearly. She always spoke of her in glowing terms, and their bond was unbreakable.
Verna is survived by: daughter, Viana Vanai Bailey; parents, Dolores and Alonzo Bailey; sisters, Vanessa Bailey Spence (Gregory), and Valerie Bailey; brothers, Michael A. and Damon Bailey; aunt, Anita Eberhart; her beloved dog and road partner, Bentley aka “Woodie”, and a host of other family and friends.
Memorial Services will be 11AM, Saturday, February 10, 2018, Union Baptist Temple, Pennsylvania & Drexel Avenues, Atlantic City, where friends may call from 10AM. Attendees are asked to wear the COLOR PURPLE which was her favorite color.
