Obituary of Ellsworth Summers

Ellsworth Joseph Summers was the son of the late Martina (Henson) and William Joseph Summers. Ellsworth was born June 3, 1930, in Washington D.C.

Ellsworth was educated in the Washington D.C. Public School System. At an early age, his family moved to Atlantic City, NJ, where he attended Atlantic City Public School. Ellsworth also served in the United States Army. Hard work, and ambition for success was constant throughout his life.

Ellsworth also worked for James Candy Company. After leaving the Candy Company, Ellsworth attended vocational training school where he received his Black Seal License, and became a boiler technician for Lafayette Public School. His hobby was spending time with family and going to the Race Track.

Ellsworth later met and married Alma J. Hughes in 1957.

He was preceded in death by: wife, Alma J. Summers; brother, Vernon Summers; and grandson, Damian Summers.

He leaves to cherish his memory: daughters, Debra Jackson (Barry) of Atlantic City, NJ, Michele Young (Michael) of Atlantic City, NJ, Floratina Vonner (Levan) of Pleasantville, NJ; sons, Girard Summers of Atlantic City, NJ, Pellease Summers of Egg Harbor Township, NJ, Michael Summer of Hammonton, NJ; 17 Grandchildren; 20 Great Grands; two Great-Great Grands; In-laws, Herman Hughes (Rose) of Hartwell, GA; a special friend, Wiliamina Booker of Atlantic City; a host of dedicated nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives, and friends.

Funeral Services will be 11AM, Saturday, February 3rd, 2018, New Shiloh Baptist Church, 701 Atlantic Avenue, Atlantic City, where friends may call from 9:30AM. Interment to follow at Atlantic County Veteran's Cemetery, Estell Manor, NJ.

Arrangements are entrusted to Greenidge Funeral Homes, Inc., Atlantic City, where condolences may be left at
