Obituary of Virginia Butler
Virginia Irene Butler, 60, a native of Atlantic City, New Jersey, was born on August 20, 1957, to Evelyn (Collins) Butler and Robert Butler. Virginia departed this life and went to be home with the Lord on Saturday, December 30, 2017.
Virginia spent her early years in Pleasantville, New Jersey. At a young age she adopted the nickname "Ginny" which most of her family and close friends called her. She graduated from Oakcrest High School in Mays Landing, New Jersey. Shortly after, she attended a culinary arts institution in Atlantic City.
Ginny was employed by various casinos in Atlantic City. She was also in the housekeeping industry at local hotels in the surrounding area.
Ginny had a great love for cats. For many years her family home was known as the "cat house" because she welcomed every stray cat that her children brought home to her. Eventually, she was left with one cat, Sheena, who was considered her baby and was very well taken care of. Ginny traveled a lot and lived in various places across the country, so she understood the ministry of GO and Sheena was very much her sidekick throughout her journeys.
Ginny loved to cook for her family and often gathered recipes from cookbooks and magazines. She was also a collector of vintage coins and stamps. One of her biggest passions was music. She loved the oldies but goodies like the Temptations and Four Tops. She collected hundreds of CDs from the Motown Sound.
Ginny was predeceased by; parents, Evelyn and Robert Butler.
Left to cherish Virginia's memories are: four children; Tyrone (wife Brandi), Geniece, Linwood Jr. (fiancé' Hannah), and Damont (fiancé' Sherae); twelve grandchildren, Jaquil (19), Adreona (19), Tehliyah (19), Mitchell (15), TaMara (14), TaNia (13), Harmony (9), Antonio (9), Jelaysia (8), Trinity (4), Ivy (4) and Jeremiah (2); three sisters, Charlotte Burns of Kent, WA, Juanita Fenderson (husband James) of San Diego, CA, and Josephine "Jackie" Butler of Atlantic City, NJ; a brother, Edward Butler of Philadelphia, PA; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and close friends.
