John Leonard Druid, was born in Atlantic City, New Jersey on October 28, 1932, to the late John and Marion Druid. He attended public schools and began a career in food management at the Dennis Hotel in 1949. He was the first employee of Bally's Casino and rose to the position of Executive Steward, the first black to hold this position in a casino in the nation. John loved the race track and was quite a successful handicapper. He met and married Rodine Lane and that union had lasted fifty-four years. He was predeceased in death by his brother, Donald E. John leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Rodine; three daughters, Rhonda, Debbie and Kim; two brothers, Webster R. of Atlanta, Georgia and Richard T. of Edison, New Jersey; five grandchildren; eight greatchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
