Dorothy Mattie Landing

Dorothy Mattie Landing, was born on November 3, 1941, in Atlantic City, New Jersey to the late Helen Edmonds and Joseph Bernard Landing, Sr. She departed this earthly life and went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 21, 2021, while at Preferred Care Rehabilitation Center in Absecon, New Jersey.


After graduating from Atlantic City High School in 1960, Dorothy moved to North Jersey where she spent many years working for RCA where she made transistors for radios. Upon returning to Atlantic City she became an employee of the City of Atlantic City in the tax office. She later transferred to the city's Construction Department from where she retired.


Dorothy was a member of the Golden Circle of South Jersey Inc. where she traveled extensively. She was raised in Community Baptist Church where her grandmother was instrumental in developing her love for the Lord. At one time she served as a trustee, hostess and on the senior choir. This was the family church with her grandmother Annie Edmonds as one of the founders. Annie Edmonds' plaque adorned the left doorway of this church for many years. This was something that made Dorothy extremely proud.


Dorothy was known for always being there for family and friends. She always remembered birthdays and important events in the lives of her family members and friends. She helped with the care of her mother. She loved playing card games and all sports particularly Basketball. She was a Boston Celtics fan. She loved music, especially "Oldies but Goodies". She will be remembered for her outstanding memory.


She is predeceased by: her siblings, Isabell Scriven, Joseph Landing, Jr., Theodore Landing, Abner Landing, Doris Nelson, and William Landing; niece, Brenda Scriven; and nephews, Joseph Landing, Jr., Theodore Landing, Jr., and Vada Landing. She leaves to cherish her fond and unforgettable memories: nephews and nieces, Donald Nelson, Jr., Chyme Landing, Dawn Borders, Anthony Landing, Rodney Scriven, Donna Landing Brown, Corey Landing and a host of great nephews and nieces, cousins and friends. She was especially fond of her great nieces, Charlene and DeAndra Gunter.


Dorothy dedicated her life to serving others. She will be deeply missed and always remembered by all whose lives she touched.


Funeral services will be 11AM, Saturday, November 27, 2021, Community Baptist Church, 234 North New Jersey Avenue, Atlantic City, New Jersey, where friends may call from 10AM. Interment to follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Pleasantville, New Jersey. Arrangements entrusted to Greenidge Funeral Homes, Inc., Atlantic City, where condolences may be left at
