Mother Ethel P. Moody-Pitts took her eternal rest on December 20, 2020. She was born August 1, 1939 in Georgetown, South Carolina to the late Henry & Essie Snow-Pressley.
She attended school in Horry County and Mullins School District both in South Carolnia. She married Pearlie James Moody, Sr. and they raised three children.
She worked at Spring Mills in Mullins, South Carolina and later worked for Blumenthal Mills in Marion, South Carolina as a Cloth Inspector until her retirement. After working many years, she retired and relocated to Atlantic City, New Jersey.
Mother Moody Pitts received the gift of the Holy Ghost under the leadership of Evangelist Rebecca Crawford. She was a member of True Faith Deliverance Temple formerly Greater Highway Church of God in Christ, under the leadership of Bishop Levester Williams.
After her retirement, Ethel moved to South Jersey. Knowing she needed a covering, she joined The Abundant Life Worship Center Church of Egg Harbor City, where she was a faithful member. She served on the Mothers' Board and sang on the Senior Choir. Ethel was a Prayer Warrior with unwavering faith often attending 8am, and Noon Day Prayer. She was known for her deep southern hospitality and enjoyed giving the welcome address ending it with, "We welcome you once, we welcome you twice, we welcome you three times in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ" stirring the church up.
In 2005, she married Deacon Riley Pitts. Ethel was the Matriarch of her family and loved gathering for family events, and shopping trips.
Ethel is predeceased by: her parents; son, James Pearlie Moody, Jr.; grandson, Kevin Gause; brothers, Kary, Frank, and Jefferson Pressley; sisters, Henrietta (her twin), Janie Faulk, Mary, and Ella Pressley, and Martha Clark who meet her in Heaven on December 21, 2020.
She leaves to cherish her memories: her husband, Deacon Riley Pitts; son, Michael Moody (Helena); daughter, Patricia Moody (Theron) both of Atlantic City; three children from love, Valerie Davis of Egg Harbor City, New Jersey; Pedro and Andre Showell (Sonya), of New Brunswick, New Jersey; brother, Silas Pressley, Sr. of Winston Salem, North Carolina; sisters-in- law, Peaches and Barbara Pressley of Florida, and Lois Washington of Newark, New Jersey; grandchildren, Erica Berry (Kelvin) of Atlanta, Georgia, Delisha Kimpson (Enrique) of Florence, South Carolina, Billy Moody and Gavin Reed of Mullins, South Carolina, Michele, Shanita, Sakinah, Shakinah, and Jacinta Moody all of Atlantic City, New Jersey; twenty-five great- grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, her loving church family; Bishop John R. Gandy; and The Abundant Life Worship Center Church; Bishop Levester Williams; True Faith Deliverance Temple; three special nieces, Carrie Womack, Wanda Johnson and Leotta Epps; a lifetime friend, Mildred Fryson; special friend's 1st Lady Ella Ford-Williams; Lorraine Crawford and all the Crawford Family; Joe and Cindy Gibbs; and prayer partners, Evangelist Elizabeth Hawkins and Mother Judith Walton.
