Gloria Naomi Sorrell died of natural causes on November 10, 2020. She was born on May 24, 1938, in Fort Pierce, Florida to her parents David Henry and Naomi (nee Smith) McDonald. At the age of 4 years old, Gloria and her family moved to Atlantic City. This was her home for the rest of her life.
Gloria graduated from Atlantic City High School and pursued her career in City government until her retirement. She was an active member of Jethro Presbyterian Church, the Golden Circle, and AARP.
Gloria is predeceased by: her brother, Raymond Ransom of New York.
Gloria is survived by her daughter, Bret, of Atlantic City, NJ; her son, Gregory and daughter-in-law, Regina of Winston-Salem, NC; her grandchildren, Alexis, and her husband, Richard Totten, Nicole Lindsay, Taylor, all of Winston-Salem, NC, and Justin of Tampa, FL; her great-grandchildren, Christopher and Sean Totten; her sister Helen, and her husband, Christopher Hopson, Jr., of Silver Spring, MD; her cousins, Brenda Pressley of South Orange, NJ, Christine Williams of New York, Margaree Byrd of New York, and Margaret Williams of New York; her nephew and nieces, Leslie Hopson of Silver Spring, MD, Christopher Hopson, III of Silver Spring, MD, and Robin Ransom of New York, NY; and her friends, particularly, Mr. William Kee of Atlantic City, NJ and Sandra Jackson of Orlando, FL.
Funeral services will be 11AM, Tuesday, December 1, 2020, Jethro Memorial Presbyterian Church, 423 N. Ohio Avenue, Atlantic City, NJ, where friends may call from 10AM. Interment to follow in Atlantic City Cemetery, Pleasantville, NJ.
