He was educated in the Marion County School System and graduated from Johnakin High School, in 1963. During his enlistment, Harry married his fellow classmate, Mary Lee Wilson, his wife of thirty –eight years. Their marriage was blessed with two wonderful daughters, Terri Michelle and Leslie Karen Smith who joined their older sister, Shelia Cross-Reed.

Following his discharge from the United States Army in 1966, Harry and Mary moved to Ocean City, New Jersey, where Harry's older brother, Frank was living and working.

After working several odd jobs to support his young family, Harry gained employment as a utility man with American Water Company (formerly New Jersey Water) where he worked for over thirty years until his retirement in 2004.

In the late 1980's, to assist his daughters with their college tuitions, he started a taxicab business, H&M Taxi Service, driving a cab at night and on weekends shuttling tourist to the various shore resorts and the Atlantic City casinos.

Harry enjoyed watching golf, cheering on his beloved Pittsburgh Steelers, talking politics and current events with his family and friends. Generous to a fault, he will always be remembered as the best father, grandfather, uncle, brother, friend and neighbor.
