Florrie Mae Lundy

Florrie Mae Lundy, 91, of Mizpah, New Jersey was born September 14, 1927, in Monticello, Florida to the late Daniel Scott and Emma Ann Wade Scott. On April 11, 2019, she was called to rest, her work was well done.

In 1936, she converted at an early age and joined Fellowship Baptist Church Monticello, Florida, and became a member of the Baptist Young People Union (BYPU). In her teens, she moved to Sarasota, Florida, and joined Bethel Baptist Young People choir and became the Sunday school secretary.

In March 1946, she married Alfred R. Lundy, Sr. and to their union was born four children, Alfred Lundy, Audrey Lofton, John Lundy, and Linwood Lundy. She moved to New Jersey in 1953, joined St. John A.M.E. Zion March 12, 1954, under Rev. J. H. Kelley.

Florrie loved the Lord and was a faithful member of the Usher Board from 1955 until she was appointed as President of the Stewardess Board under Rev. Lawrence Crossland in 1974. She was consecrated a Deaconess under Rev. Jessie L. Davis in 1975, and held these positions until 2006. Florrie's favorite scripture, Psalm 23, favorite songs, "I Surrender All" and "Oh Though in Who Presence My Soul Takes Delight.''

Florrie retired from Manischewitz as a food packer and Pitney Bowe operator December of 1989 after 34 years.

She was predeceased by: parents; and sister, Hattie Bell Davis. She leaves to cherish her memory: children, Alfred Lundy (Derla), Audrey Lofton (Chauncey), John Lundy (Vi), Linwood Lundy (Renae), and special son, Romney Teller; grandchildren, Vera, LaKeisha (Brenton) Audrey, Dante', De'ja, John, Alex, TaKenya, Terrell, Melvin, Briana and Jacee; six great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; two godchildren, David Mallory, Jr. and Yvette Mallory; sisters-in-law, Cleta Lundy of Baltimore, Maryland and Thelma Montgomery of Orlando, Florida; two nieces, Vernice Ball and Ina M. Black both of Sarasota, Florida; and a host of other loving family and friends. Funeral services will be 11AM, Saturday, April 20, 2019, St. John A.M.E. Zion Church, Sewell & Cleveland Avenues, Mizpah, New Jersey. Interment will follow in Lincoln Memorial Park, Mays Landing.
