Jenniefer Johnson

Jenniefer Johnson was born January 20, 1958, in Atlantic City, New Jersey. She passed away March 8, 2019, at her home in Atlantic City. She was the daughter of Lizzie (Reid) and Ernest Johnson.

In 1980, Jenniefer graduated from Hampton University in Hampton, Virginia, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology. While attending Hampton University she became a champion tennis player.

Jenniefer was employed by the Atlantic City Division of Youth and Family Services and recently retired in 2016, after 29 years of service. Her most rewarding position was in the foster care unit in which she worked tirelessly to process perspective foster and relative homes for children in need. Her mission was to advocate for the most vulnerable families and work to ensure every child had a safe home.

When Jenniefer made her weight loss goal, she became a lifetime member of Weight Watchers of Somers Point, New Jersey, attending meetings weekly.

Jenniefer shared a home with her mother where they enjoyed decorating it with beautiful flowers and works of art. She and her mother were great home and travel companions. They especially enjoyed traveling to New England. Jenniefer also enjoyed vacationing with her sister, Carolyn; together they traveled to Greece, Turkey and France. In addition to traveling, she loved gardening and photography. A friend once said that Jenniefer's photography displayed a stillness of mind and spirit. That's who Jenniefer was - a tranquil, kind, humble and simple person.

Jenniefer is preceded in death by: her father, Ernest Johnson.

Jenniefer leaves to cherish her fond memories: her mother, Lizzie (Reid) Johnson; sister, Carolyn Johnson; cousins, Melba and Alfred May, L' Tanya May-Talley, Ethlyn Craig, Donford Craig and Claude Craig, Sr.; and a host of other family, friends, DYFS co-workers and Weight Watchers Community.

One of Jenniefer's quotes, "When you think about quitting, think about why you started."
