Obituary of Walter Farrell
Walter Anthony Farrell, Jr., age 84, peacefully passed at his home on February 23, 2018, in Atlantic City, New Jersey. He was born December 25, 1933, to Agnes (Boston) and Walter A. Farrell, Sr.
Walter was a lifelong resident of Atlantic City. He was educated in the local schools and graduated from Vocational School.
He was employed be Ginsberg Bakery for over 20 years. Walter loved to ride his bicycle, and turned hi pastime into a delivery service at the A&P Supermarket located at Pennsylvania and Atlantic Avenues in the city. Walter and his mother always maintained a beautiful yard and he transformed that into a landscaping position with the Casino Reinvestment Development Authority (CRDA).
Walter loved to walk around the city, he could be seen along Atlantic Avenue and daily at McDonald's at the outlets. In the evenings he could be found in his yard, enjoying a fine cigar.
Walter enlisted in the United States Army, serving during The Korean War conflict.
Walter married the late Erlinda (McIvy) Farrell, and through this union they had three children; Michael T., Laurinda E., and Mia M.
He was predeceased by: ex-wife, Erlinda Farrell; parents, Agnes and Walter Farrell, Sr.; grandson, Jet Puentes; great-granddaughter, Mia' Lei Robinson.
Walter is survived by: sons, Walter Anthony Woodberry, Michael T. Farrell (Stephanie); daughters, Laurinda E. Hendrix (Horace), Mia M. Puentes; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; companion, Susan Woodberry; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services will be 11AM, Saturday, March 10, 2018, at Greenidge Funeral Homes Inc., 301 Absecon Boulevard, Atlantic City, where friends may call from 10AM. Interment, Holy Cross Cemetery, Mays Landing.
