Obituary of Robert Anderson

Robert L. Anderson, 76, affectionately known as "Big Bobby" was born March 1, 1941 in Atlantic City, New Jersey. He was called home to God on January 11, 2018, surrounded by his family at the Egg Harbor Care Center. Bobby attended Atlantic City public schools. Bobby was an entrepreneur who owned and operated several businesses. He was the owner of a hauling and commercial cleaning company in the Cherry Hill, New Jersey area. Along with Bernie Tulls and Rosalind Anderson, Bobby owned 2 B's Boutique on Arctic Avenue. For many years, he was Captain of Security at Atlantic City Medical Center. His last business was owner and operator of a cab for Northside and Mutual Cab companies.

As a young teenager he would ride horses on the beach from Victory Stables. He was an amateur boxer from 1955 to 1957. He remained an avid boxer and sports enthusiast throughout his life. Bobby was a huge Eagles fan.

Bobby loved his family and doted on his grandchildren. He spent hours watching movies, especially Westerns. His sister Gail was his TV guide, so he would not miss any of his favorite shows. He was also a food connoisseur and he enjoyed his sister Carolyn's Sunday dinners. His sister Brenda and brothers Clinton and Van were his confidantes. Bobby was a suave and debonair dresser.

Bobby is predeceased by: parents, Rachel and Clinton Anderson; sister, Rosalind Anderson; and granddaughter, Nasiyah Austin-Melton (Nana). He is survived by: five children, Robert Anderson (Sonya) of Egg Harbor Township, Daryl Anderson (Deborah) of Roanoke, Virginia, Bryon Anderson and Monique Anderson, both of Atlantic City, and Tamara Bailey (Keita) of Stafford, Virginia; siblings, Carolyn Taylor (Van), Clinton Anderson, Brenda Percy (Daniel) and Gail Anderson; grandchildren, Shanda Anderson, Renie Anderson, Jonathan Anderson, Jr. (J-Roc), Quameer Anderson, Jade Gambrell, Brian Wilson, Shadeed Rice and Atira Rice; three great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral Services will be 11AM, Friday, January 19, 2018, Asbury United Methodist Church, 1213 Pacific Avenue, Atlantic City, NJ, where friends may call from 9AM. Interment to follow in Atlantic City Cemetery.
